Dr. Ann Costello is Associate Professor of Insurance and Director of the R. C. Knox Center for Insurance and Risk Management Studies. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of employee benefits, social insurance, and principles. She serves as a consultant to the University’s Benefits Task Force.
Education:
She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in insurance. She was the first woman to be awarded a S. S. Huebner Fellowship for Insurance Studies. She received an M.B.A. from Old Dominion University and a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia (insurance major) and previously taught at Temple University and Old Dominion University.
Research Interests:
Her research interests are in the areas of retiree health, Medicare, long term care insurance, dependent care as an employee benefit, and national public policy as to health and retirement issues.
Professional Activities:
As Director of the R. C. Knox Center for Insurance and Risk Management Studies, she has been responsible for several highly successful symposia regarding topics of interest to the insurance community. She is active in the American Risk and Insurance Association She is presently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals and has served on the editorial boards of Benefits Quarterly and the Journal of Insurance Issues.
