Demetrios S. Giannaros

Dr. Giannaros is a tenured Professor of Economics at the University of Hartford.  Dr. Giannaros also serves on the CT State legislature and is currently the Deputy Speaker for the CT House of Representatives. He has also taught at Boston University, Suffolk University and the Jagellonian University in Krakow, Poland. At the U. of Hartford he has served as Barney School's Director for International Programs, Director of the Executive MPA and at the University level, Associate to The VP for Academic Affairs and Director of International Studies. Dr. Giannaros was awarded the Ph.D. in Economics at Boston University.  He was first elected to the legislature in 1994 and has served Chairman of the Education Committee, and Chairman of the Energy and Technology Committee. Currently, he is a member of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee. He also has served as a member of the International Trade Commission, the Commerce Committee the Government and Elections Committee and the Commission on Children.
