Demetrios S. Giannaros

Dr. Giannaros is a tenured Professor of Economics at the University of Hartford. He also has taught at Boston University, Suffolk University and the Jagellonian University in Krakow, Poland. At the U. of Hartford he has also served as Barney School's Director for International Programs, Director of the Executive MPA and at the University level, Associate to The VP for Academic Affairs and Director of International Studies. He was awarded the Ph.D. in Economics by Boston University. Dr. Giannaros also serves on the CT State legislature and is currently the Deputy Majority Leader for the House of Representatives. He was first elected to the legislature in 1994 and has served Chairman of the Education Committee, and Chairman of the Energy and Technology Committee. Currently, he is a member of the Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee, the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee and Government Administration and Elections Committee. He also has served as a member of the International Trade Commission, the Commerce Committee and the Commission on Children.
